The Hybrid Keyphone

The Keyphone Hybrid is a modular, minimal phone built for intentional use. It runs a custom OS layer on AOSP 15 — no social media, no infinite scroll, no ads or tracking built in. A physical keyboard (T9 or QWERTY) and your choice of display size (2.8” or 4.0”) are selected at the time of order. Keyphone is a natural fit for YC’s market: the company originates from a Jewish Kosher community with similar values around restricted, intentional technology use. The phone’s lockdown capability — built into a physical hardware module — aligns directly with the needs of our Mennonite and Amish customers. |
Three models exist in the Keyphone line. Currently available is only the Hybrid:

4 · Standards & Lockdown (YC-Relevant)
Keyphone’s Standards Program allows organizations — schools, religious communities, employers — to define exactly what features their phones should have. Keyphone then programs a custom camera or flashlight module to enforce those standards at the hardware level.
MOQ is in the hundreds of devices, so probably won’t be able to make custom modules for a single customer of ours (unless an organization that can take 500 or so).
How It Works

Key Points for Reps
- The lockdown level is determined by which camera module is installed — not by any software setting.
- Customers cannot bypass restrictions by installing apps or changing settings.
- Different communities can have different lockdown specs — each gets their own custom module. (Future deployment.)
5 · Available Configurations
At order time, customers choose three options: display size, keyboard style, and camera module. The combination determines the lockdown level (if any).

Can we activate an eSIM?
The hardware supports eSIM, but new eSIM activations are not currently possible due to pending carrier certifications. Use a physical SIM for now.
Can the battery be replaced by the customer?
Yes — this is one of the Keyphone’s standout features. The 2400 mAh battery is user-replaceable. Spare batteries are sold as accessories. Great upsell for frequent travelers or off-grid users.
What is the warranty?
1-year manufacturer’s warranty from Keyphone, with an extended warranty option available. For claims or service, direct customers to keyphone.tech or (844) 539-7466.
Is there a screen protector or case?
Keyphone describes the build as military-grade and designed for daily use without a case. Check keyphone.tech for any updated accessories.
