Overview

EnGenius Durafon and FreeStyl 2 are professional-grade cordless phone systems designed for environments where standard DECT phones fail — warehouses, large facilities, farms, industrial buildings, and outdoor operations. Both systems use 902–928 MHz frequency-hopping technology rather than 1.9 GHz DECT 6.0, giving them dramatically greater range and wall/floor penetration than typical cordless phones.

We carry two distinct systems: the Durafon Pro SL (single-line, multi-base capable, up to 90 handsets) and the FreeStyl 2 (single-line, simpler setup, up to 9 handsets). The two systems are not compatible with each other — handsets and bases do not interchange between Durafon Pro and FreeStyl 2.

900 MHz, not DECT 6.0: Both systems operate on 902–928 MHz with frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology. This is not the 1.9 GHz DECT 6.0 standard used by most home/office cordless phones. The 900 MHz band penetrates walls, floors, and building materials far more effectively — which is why these systems achieve coverage that DECT 6.0 systems cannot.

Durafon Pro SL System

The EnGenius Durafon Pro SL (also called Durafon PRO PSL) is a commercial-grade, multi-handset cordless system designed for large facilities. The "SL" (single-line) base provides one analog phone line port. Multiple bases can be connected for multi-line and multi-zone coverage.

FreeStyl 2 System

The EnGenius FreeStyl 2 is a simpler, single-line long-range system suited for facilities up to ~100,000 sq. ft. It supports fewer handsets than the Durafon Pro (9 vs. 90) and does not support multi-base expansion, but it is easier to set up and well-suited for many commercial environments.
